Nigerian Singers, Omah Lay and Tems, have been trending on Twitter since early Monday following the news that they have been remanded in an Ugandan prison.
The Uganda Police Force arrested both singers for flouting COVID-19 guidelines. They were arrested after their performances at The Big Brunch, which held at Speke Resort, Wavamunno Rd, Kampala, Uganda.
The report however has generated massive trends on Twitter after Omah Lay Tweeted: “I’m in cuffs in Uganda right now with Tems.”
Nigerians have created the hashtag FreeTemsAndOmahLay to demand the release of the singers.
Burna boy and other top Nigerian celebrities have also taken to the Twitter platform to urge the Ugandan government to release the singers. Burna boy Tweeted: “Uganda…Pls we need our people home and safe #freetems #freeomahlay.”
