FAAN-MDs-potrait-200x300 It was a day of hell for passengers and others people commuting to the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos became  stranded due to shortage of airport shuttle buses.

The situation might not be unconnected with the decision of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigerian (FAAN) to  numerous transport shuttle operators to replace their vehicles with new ones.

Management of FAAN had instructed the drivers to replace their buses with new ones, a situation, which the operators  have been finding difficult to comply with.

The situation came to head on Monday as many of the passengers were left stranded at the various bus stops leading to  the airport.

General Manager, Public Affairs of FAAN, Mr. Yakubu Dati, said that it was not under the purview of the authority to  purchase buses for the limousine operators.

He noted that the authority’s concern was the safety, security and comfort of all passengers passing through the airport roads.

He said that the bus operators should know where to go or how to get funds for their members to purchase new buses for them.

He, however, said that the operators should welcome and encourage new people interested in joining their association with the recommended buses.
