As protest over murder of twelve Farmers in Isoko community over a parcel of land enters day two, irate youths have reportedly set ablaze a fourteen seater’s bus belonging to Agofure Transport Line as the driver allegedly killed two persons along Owhelogbo road in Ozoro, Isoko North LGA.

Multiple sources revealed that following a protests embarked upon Wednesday by a community within Isoko, some neighoring communities  in solidarity resorted to mounting blockade on their entrance and exit routes all in protest of the Ozoro/Oleh massacre.

An eye-witness told this reporter that “Owhelogbo and Olomoro people are not happy, nothing is being done to address the gruesome killings”.

The eye-witness further alleged that “a prominent politician in the area went to  effect the release  of those arrested in connection with the killings without proper reconciliation.”

Some accounts say the situation has not abated. Said one community leader:  “Owhelogbo youths have blocked the road, Oleh, also blocked all the link roads, even in Olomoro, the roads are blocked.”

Multiple sources also disclosed that passengers were stranded in Ozoro as there were no buses and other vehicles being allowed to  drive in and out, making the usual journey of two hours  stretched to several hours.

A community leader while urging government and political leaders from the affected areas to look into the situation to avoid a situation whereby it could degenerate into serious unmitigated crisis.

He said: “Make our political class, Kings and government look at the matter before it fully degenerate into war.”Isoko Community

The immediate cause of the latest issue stem from reports that  the Agofure bus driver allegedly rammed over an Okada rider, killing him and his passenger on the spot.

In reaction, angry youths  unleashed a reign of terror on the vehicle, burning it beyond recognition as the driver hurriedly fled the scene.

Delta State PPRO, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya who confirmed the incident to The New Diplomat , said the accident has nothing to do with the protests as it is an isolated case.
