The Gombe state House of Assembly Tuesday dramatically impeached its  Speaker, Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Ibrahim.

The impeached speaker was immediately replaced  with Hon Abubakar Mohammed , who majority of the House members say would henceforth pilot the affairs of the House and lead them accordingly.

Chief Whip of the House, Hon. Musa Buba who  announced the ousting of Hon Ibrahim at a  press conference held on behalf of the House said the ousting of the former Speaker was in line with the the relevant sections of the 1999 Constitution as amended, which deal with the removal of a speaker.

Hon Buba said, 16 members of the House out of the 24 passed a unanimous vote of no confidence on the former Speaker, a move which necessitated his removal as he has lost the  confidence of his colleagues in the House of Assembly.
