It was a black Sunday in Anambra as many commuters are feared dead  following an auto accident involving a tanker and a mini bus along Onitsha-Awka expressway, Anambra state.

The accident, which reportedly occurred at Nkwere junction in the evening of Sunday left many in bad shape just as many bodies of the designated  commuters were seen along the express road, looking lifeless, according to a witness.

The eyewitness narrated the situation in graphic details.  He said, “There was a fatal accident at Nkwere involving a mini bus and a tanker. Many lives were lost,”

As at the time of filing this report, the actual number of casualties and their identities were yet to be ascertained.

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), responsible for the area, Mr Andrew Kumapayi who confirmed the incident noted that the accident involved a bus belonging to CDO transport company.

He said, “A fatal crash involving a bus belonging to CDO transport Company just occurred this evening, 22nd November, 2020 at Nkwere junction, along Onitsha-Awka expressway.

“FRSC rescue team from Nteje Unit has been mobilised.”
