The US Election 2020 appears to be inching closer to an outcome, with Democratic presidential candidate, former vice president Joe Biden galloping home on track victoriously with 264 electoral votes, according to Associated Press.

Agency reports say, Joe Biden is already winning enough states in the race, edging closer  to the White House.

This, even as his challenger, incumbent President Donald Trump, threatens to undermine the victory by challenging its legality in court.

Trump’s legal challenge comes after it becomes clear that it would be difficult for the Republican to withstand a late blue surge in states such as Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

According to the Associated Press, the following current dynamics reflect the election calling at the moment.

Arizona: The AP called Arizona for Biden around 2:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday. Fox News had also called the state for Biden, angering the president’s campaign, which expressed confidence it can still win.

Wisconsin: The AP called Wisconsin for Biden on Wednesday afternoon. The Trump campaign said that it is going to “immediately” request a recount, which is allowed by law but cannot proceed until Dec. 1. Trump is currently trailing Biden by just over 20,000 votes.

Michigan: The AP also called Michigan for Biden on Wednesday night.

Georgia: Trump’s lead in Georgia is dwindling as the state continues its count. As of 5 p.m. ET Thursday, the margin had dropped to just 9,000 votes.

Nevada: Biden has been leading by a comfortable margin on election night, but the race tightened considerably, with Trump trailing Biden by just 12,000 votes on Thursday evening.

Pennsylvania: Trump holds a narrow lead in the Keystone State, though the Biden campaign believes it will overtake the president as mail-in ballots continue to be processed.

North Carolina: Though Trump prematurely declared victory in the state early Wednesday, this race is too close to call, with thousands of mail ballots and potentially thousands of provisional ballots still left to count.

Here’s where the race to 270 currently stands according to both AP and FOX news:

  • Biden: 264
  • Trump: 214

The following states have been called:

Biden:Vt., Va., Conn., Del., Ill., Md., Mass., N.J., R.I., N.Y., N.M., D.C., Colo., N.H., Calif., Ore., Wash., Hawaii, Minn., Ariz., Maine (3 of 4 electoral votes), Wis., Mich.

Trump: Ky., W. Va., S.C., Ala., Miss., Tenn., Okla., Ark., Ind., N.D., S.D., Wyo., La., Neb., Kan., Mo., Idaho, Utah, Ohio, Iowa, Mont., Fla., Texas, Maine (1 of 4 electoral votes)

Meanwhile, Police arrested dozens of people in New York, Portland, Oregon, and other cities overnight following some protests demanding votes recount in the race for the White House by smaller groups backing President Donald Trump.

However, in Minneapolis, police cited more 600 demonstrators who marched onto a highway Wednesday night protesting Trumps threats to challenge the election results, as well as a variety of social injustices, authorities said Thursday.

The protests came as the Trump campaign insisted, without evidence, that there were major problems with the voting and the counting of ballots.

In Portland, some marchers smashed the windows of businesses and hurled fireworks at officers as uncertainty over the election combined with months of unrest over racial injustice and other causes. Police made at least 12 arrests.

The election has reached feverish levels as President Trump’s supporters  threatens legal suit just as former vice president Joe Biden’s team reiterates confidence in the integrity of  US electoral process.
