The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Zaki M. Ahmed on Tuesday called for collaboration among members of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

The AIG hosted participants of Junior Course 90/2020, Department of Maritime Warfare, Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji who were on operational visit to the AIG of Police, Zone 6 Headquarters, Calabar.Maritime Security

Speaking on the topic “Enhancing Nigerian Navy Maritime Security Operation through Multi-Agency Collaboration”, Mr Ahmed called on the need for cooperation among security agencies for better Maritime security. He shared historical background of the Nigeria police Force; Organization and Roles; Activities of the Nigeria police Force; Multi Agency Cooperation between the police and Nigerian Navy, and the Challenges and way forward.

The interactive session featured questions and answers from the Course participants on how to advance the symbiotic synergy through frequent joint training programmes, courses and operations between the two agencies for an improved security of the country’s maritime domain.

The Zonal Police Public Relations officer, Zone 6 Headquarters,Calabar, DSP. Nelson Okpabi confirmed to The New Diplomat that the operational visitors had sixty-four participants of Junior Course 90/2020 from the Department of Maritime Warfare, Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji.

The participants were led by Commodore S.A. Akinwande including, eleven directing staff and four other ranks.

The Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji, Kaduna was established in May 1976, giving two senior officers’ courses. In April 1978, the College was expanded when the Army Junior Division was established to conduct courses for Captains in the Nigerian Army.

Successful students were awarded Pass Staff Course (psc) and Pass Junior Staff Course (pjsc) at the end of the Senior and Junior Courses respectively.
