President Donald Trump, has saluted the US Special forces for their successful military operations that led to the rescue of an American hostage in Nigeria, Saturday.

The New Diplomat earlier reported that Philip Walton, 27, who was abducted by armed men on Monday, October 26, regained his freedom on Saturday, following the daring raid staged by elite SEAL Team 6 on the location where he was being held.

Walton, who was kidnapped in a Nigerien village near Nigeria was moved to a location in northern Nigeria.

Confirming the operation, Chief Pentagon spokesman, Jonathan Hoffman in a statement said: “US forces conducted a hostage rescue operation during the early hours of 31 October in Northern Nigeria to recover an American citizen held hostage by a group of armed men.”

Reacting to the successful rescue mission by the Special Forces, Trump tweeted: “Last night, our country’s brave warriors rescued an American hostage in Nigeria.

“Our Nation salutes the courageous soldiers behind the daring nighttime rescue operation and celebrates the safe return of yet another American citizen!”
