A petrol-laden tanker exploded in Lagos as it navigated its way on a bad road, affecting 2 other trucksĀ  at Mile 2 area, Oshodi-Apapa expressway in Lagos.

The accident was said to have occurred around 1a.m as the tanker went up in flames as soon as it overturned spilling its contents on the road.

As a result of this, 2 trucks beside the tanker gutted fire. However, the
drivers escaped from being hurt from the fire.

The spokesperson of the Lagos State Fire Service, Mr Jamiu Dosunmu, however said the fire had been extinguished, adding that the no death was recorded.

Confirming the incident, Director General of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu said no life was lost.

He said: ā€œThere was no loss of life. We received the distress call concerning the explosion around 1am and activated emergency response plan.

ā€œOn arrival, it was discovered that a fuel tanker loaded with PMS had overturned and burst into flames due to the oil spillage. This in turn affected some stationary trailers parked inwards Apapa.

ā€œA combined team comprising Lagos Fire, Police, Federal Fire and LASEMA rsponders have extinguished the flames.

ā€œOperation to remove the affected vehicles is ongoing while road users are encouraged to use alternative routes.ā€
