The Lagos State Government has said all public and private schools in the state should re-open from Monday, Nov 2, 2020.
It added that students in the boarding houses should resume on Sunday, Nov 1 ahead of the Monday resumption day.
Recall that schools in Lagos State and some others states were closed down following anxiety on safety of children in the wake of violence which spread across the state as hoodlums hijacked the #ENDSARS protests.
In a statement, the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, said with the reopening of schools from Monday, government hopes there will not be disruptions anymore urging that learning should continue ceaselessly till the end of term.
“This has been an unprecedented year with the recent happenings that have regrettably led to frequent closure of schools with attendant learning disruptions faced by all children.”
“We pray and hope that there will be no more disruptions in the academic calendar. However, the State Government will always regard the safety of pupils/students, parents and all staff as a matter of priority.
“We recommend that when schools resume on Monday, teaching and learning should continue unhindered till the end of the term.”
The Commissioner advised pupils/students to take their studies more seriously and make up for the lost period.
