No fewer than seven persons were feared killed on Friday, as youths from Oleh and Ozoro communities of Isoko South and North Local Government Areas of Delta State are currently embroiled in communal crisis.

The New Diplomat understands that the communal crisis was as a result of aged long boundary dispute between both Isoko speaking communities.

Both communities were said to be in a state of chaos as at the time of filing this report, even as seven persons from both sides have been feared killed following hostility over a piece of land endowed with oil minerals.seven killed in delta

Oleh, a host to the Law Campus of the Delta State University, is the administrative headquarters of Isoko South, while Ozoro, host to Delta State Polytechnic, is the headquarters of Isoko North.

The two warring communities are the major towns in Isoko land in the state.

Armed youths from one of the communities were said to have launched attack at the market area in Ozoro which is the centre of the land in dispute.

Scores of residents sustained severe injuries in the ongoing crisis.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP, Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the outbreak of the crisis, saying she cannot immediately ascertain the number of casualties.

She said police were beefing up security in the area.
