*Afenifere Reacts, Says Her Death Is Big Blow

Reverend (Mrs.) Tola Oyediran, a daughter of the late first Premier of the defunct Western Region, and leader of opposition at the federal Parliament, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, is dead.

Oyediran, who was the eldest daughter of Awolowo died on Friday, October 16, 2020, at 79 years. Her death came in about six weeks to her 80th birthday on December 1.

Reverend Oyediran was the Chairman, Board of Directors of African Newspapers of Nigeria ( ANN), publishers of Tribune Newspapers prior to her death.

She was married to Professor Olukayode  Oyediran, a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan. Reacting to her death, the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organization, Afenifere described Rev Oyediran’s death as a big blow.

Yinka Odumakin, spokesperson of Afenifere in a statement on Friday said she would be greatly missed.

“Mrs Oyediran was a lovely person who radiated warmth and love to al in her lifetime. Her death is a big blow we have to accept as we cannot change the will of God. We pray God to take care of the family she left behind…,’ Odumakin added.
