Suspected thugs who are against the #EndSARS movement on Wednesday attacked protesters in Abuja.
The #EndSARS protesters had gathered at Berger junction in Abuja and not long after some thugs came to attack them while some were lucky to escape, others were injured.
It was gathered that the thugs brandished weapons like cutlass, sticks and caused pandemonium at the area in Abuja as some vehicles were injured.
The intention of the attackers was not immediately known, but a video which showed the incident hinted they were Pro-SARS people who were against the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) as announced by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammed Adamu on Sunday.
The #EndSARS protesters have been staging protests across the country since last Thursday, expressing their grievances against police brutality and extra-judicial killings by SARS.
Adamu on Tuesday announced the setting up a new police unit, SWAT Team to replace the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The new unit full name is Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) .
The IGP said it would fill the gaps arising from the dissolution of the defunct SARS.
