The Eagle’s Square in Abuja was a site to behold on Thursday as President Muhammadu Buhari participated at Nigeria’s 60th Independence parade.

In attendance were Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon; former President Goodluck Jonathan and other personalities.

The the low-key event was held strictly in compliance with the Covid-19 protocols.

Earlier, The New Diplomat had reported that President Buhari attempted to rally Nigerians towards embracing nationalism ideals. In his independence day speech, he asked citizens to jettison stereotypes and traditional fault-lines that had interrupted the country’s development since the British colonialists left the country’s shore six decades ago.
