Aftermath of his triumph at the just concluded guber poll, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has dismissed rumours of him returning to the All Progressives Congress (APC) amid pleas by chieftains of the party.

Recall the Governor left the APC to vie for his re-election on the platform of the People Democratic Party. But there are certain reports that some APC chieftains are already courting him, in an attempt to make him return to the party few hours after winning the election, defeating APC’s Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

The Chairman of APC’s Caretaker and National Reconciliation Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni, and a chieftain of the party in Rivers State, Chukwuemeka Eze, were among those who have reportedly extended an olive branch to Obaseki, trying to lure him back to their fold.

Obaseki, while speaking with Arise TV on his victory and political future, Tuesday, said: “It’s not right to jettison them (PDP).

“I have no plan to return to APC.”

Speaking further, Obaseki said he will not have mercy on his predecessor and former APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, if he continues to create concerns for his administration.

Obaseki, who was reacting to allegations that he plans to chase Oshiomhole out of Edo State said: “I don’t have any plans to..If he continues to behave the way he’s always done, if he continues to be disruptive, if he continues to fund his lions and tigers in Edo State and tries to create problems for us here, then we will not have any mercy.”
