There has been a floot-tide of reactions since the reports of Kamala Harris’ selection as running mate to U.S Democratic presidential candidate for the November election, Joe Biden hit the news, Tuesday.
Following the news, Harris, 55, a serving Senator from the U.S state of California, becomes the first black woman on a major presidential ticket in U.S. history.
Political analysts have described her as a well suited partner for Biden to take on imcumbent Republican President, Donald J. Trump.
The presidential election in less than 3 months away, will hold on Tuesday, 3rd November, 2020.

Reacting to the news of her selection on Twitter, Harris wrote: “And as president, he’ll build an America that lives up to our ideals.
“I’m honored to join him as our party’s nominee for Vice President, and do what it takes to make him our Commander-in-chief.”
Earlier on Tuesday, President Trump, before the news of Harris’ selection, had said some men feel “insulted” by Biden’s decision to choose a woman as his running mate. He told Fox Radio that the former vice president has “roped himself into a certain group of people.
“I would be inclined to go a different route than what he’s done…. Some people would say men are insulted by that and some people would say it is fine,” Trump said.
But former President Barack Obama has hailed her selection, saying “she is more than prepared for the job.” He added “Joe Biden nailed this decision.”
Obama’s statement reads: “Choosing a vice president is the first important decision a president makes. When you’re in the Oval Office, weighing the toughest issues, and the choice you make will affect the lives and livelihoods of the entire country – you need someone with you who’s got the judgment and the character to make the right call. Someone whose focus goes beyond self-interest to consider the lives and prospects of others.
“Joe Biden nailed this decision. By choosing Senator Kamala Harris as America’s next vice president, he’s underscored his own judgment and character. Reality shows us that these attributes are not optional in a president. They’re requirements of the job. And now Joe has an ideal partner to help him tackle the very real challenges America faces right now and in the years ahead.
“I’ve known Senator Harris for a long time. She is more than prepared for the job. She’s spent her career defending our Constitution and fighting for folks who need a fair shake. Her own life story is one that I and so many others can see ourselves in: a story that says that no matter where you come from, what you look like, how you worship, or who you love, there’s a place for you here. It’s a fundamentally American perspective, one that’s led us out of the hardest times before. And it’s a perspective we can all rally behind right now.
“Michelle and I couldn’t be more thrilled for Kamala, Doug, Cole, and Ella. This is a good day for our country. Now let’s go win this thing.” Obama stated.
Also, other top Democrats including the women nominated alongside Harris, before Biden finally tapped her, have positively reacted to her selection.
“I warmly congratulate Senator Kamala Harris on her selection as Joe Biden’s Vice Presidential running mate,” said former UN Ambassador Susan Rice, whom several sources said was in the top two as earlier reported by The New Diplomat. “Senator Harris is a tenacious and trailblazing leader who will make a great partner on the campaign trail.”
Sen. Bernie Sanders tweeted that Harris “understands what it takes to stand up for working people, fight for health care for all, and take down the most corrupt administration in history.”
Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who removed herself from the VP consideration, wrote on Twitter:”Kamala is a good friend and incredibly strong public servant. Sometimes campaigns can tear friendships apart but we grew closer — and I know she has what it takes to lead side-by-side with Joe Biden.”
Rep. Karen Bass, who was also being vetted by Biden, tweeted: “Kamala Harris is a great choice for Vice President. Her tenacious pursuit of justice and relentless advocacy for the people is what is needed right now. I worked closely with her when I was in Sacramento and she was the District Attorney in San Francisco. I continue to work closely with her here in Washington, DC as we push to reform our nation’s policing system.”
House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, who has been credited with reviving Biden’s presidential campaign before the South Carolina primary, told MSNBC: “I am ecstatic. As you know, I’m the father of three daughters. I’ve been saying what a plus it would be to have an African-American woman on the ticket. I just think we are breaking ground here.”
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, who reportedly met with Biden during the VP vetting process, said she’s “extraordinarily proud” to support Harris.
Stacey Abrams, who was also being vetted for VP, tweeted: “I am privileged to have spoken with Vice President Biden at length over the weekend and again today. He is building a team that can rebuild America and restore our faith in what lies ahead.”
However, the Trump campaign has described Harris-Biden ticket as
“political living will”, accusing the Democrats of “surrendering control of our nation to the radical mob with promises to raise taxes, cut police funding, kill energy jobs, open our borders, and appease socialist dictators.”
