Nigeria on Monday recorded 290 new covid 19 infections, shooting the country’s tally to 46,867.
The figure release by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) marked the second lowest daily figure since June 8 following the recent drop in the newly confirmed infections.
Five Covid 19 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, pushing the total number of deaths to 950.

Nigeria, with a population of over 200 million, has only tested about 320,000 people.
According to the NCDC, out of a total 46,867 infected persons so far, more than 33,000 have recovered and have been discharged after treatment in the country’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The 290 new cases were reported from 16 states- Lagos (82), Plateau (82), Oyo (19), FCT (18), Edo (16), Kaduna (15), Enugu (9), Ogun (9), Kano (8), Kwara (8), Cross River (5), Ondo (5), Rivers (5), Ekiti (4), Imo (3) and Borno (2).
