Former President Olusegun Obasanjo held on to his misgivings on former Ogun Senator, Buruji Kashamu after the later passed on Saturday, in Lagos.

Kashamu, who represented Ogun East Senatorial District at the 8th Assemby died of Covid-19 complications at the age of 62.

The statement was released by Obasanjo’s spokesman, Mr. Kehinde Akinyemi.

“Senator Esho Jinadu (Buruji Kashmu) in his lifetime used the maneuver of law and politics to escape from facing justice on alleged criminal offence in Nigeria and outside Nigeria,” Obasanjo said.

“But no legal, political, cultural, social, or even medical maneuver could stop the cold hand of death when the Creator of all of us decides that the time is up.

“May Allah forgive his sin and accept his soul into Aljanah, and may God grant his family and friends fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.” He added.

Before now, Obasanjo and Kashamu have had no love lost between them, as the former President has made some revelations on the alleged involvement of Kashamu in drug trafficking to the U.S.

It would be recalled the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) had attempted to arrest and extradite the late Senator to the U.S. to face drug trafficking charges there, something Kashamu had consistently denied and challenged in court until he breathed his last.
