Controversial Nigerian artiste, Azeez Fasola (Naira Marley) has been detained  by the police in Lagos after appearing before the Lagos State Special Offences Court at Ikeja for violating Covid-19 protocols, Thursday.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana confirmed that the singer was charged for violating the protocols put in place by the Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19, banning interstate travels during the lockdown to curb the virus spread.

Elkana said: “We are in court as we speak. He will be arraigned for violating the interstate travel order. That is the aspect that concerns Lagos State,” he added.

Recall the artiste flew from Lagos to Abuja for a concert held at the Jabi Lake Mall, on Saturday, July 13.

The FCT Authority shut down the mall and the Federal Government of Nigeria stopped the operation of the airline that conveyed him to Abuja.

Marley was arranged and detained after presenting himself at the Police Command Headquarters, Thursday.
