A member of Delta State House of Assembly, Evance Ivwurie, has urged farmers, residents and students in Ethiope East Local Government Area and the state in general to be vigilant about strange faces in their communities, especially those very close to the hinterland that have contact with herdsmen and report all such suspected persons, their activities and act of violence to the police immediately.
He said this while addressing some farmers who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Asaba to seek advice on the recent killings by Fulani herdsmen in some parts of the country and how to respond in the event of a similar occurrence in their communities.
Ivwurie, who represents Ethiope East state constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources, said: “As for us in Ethiope East LGA, I have provided the leadership that has formed a ring around the herdsmen making it a wrong and costly option to kill any of our constituents.”
Ivwurie, who cited the recent killings in Enugu State, noted that the herdsmen did not just invade the said community that very day they to perpetuate the killing that claimed about 43 lives.
