The United States of America in a bid to stand in solidarity with Nigeria in its fight against Covid-19 has commissioned an upgraded Emergency Operation Centre, (EOC) and Call Center today in Cross River State.
The visual commissioning was done by the US ambassador to Nigeria, Mary Berth Leonard.
Mary Berth, according to the state chairman of the COVID 19 taskforce and Health Commissioner, Dr Betta Edu commended the State effort at keeping zero incidence of the dreaded virus.

“The United States envoy also commended the Cross River State Government response to COVID 19 pandemic.” Dr Betta Edu said.
Present at the commissioning of the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) and COVID 19 Call Centre sponsored by USAID were the Deputy Governor Ivara Esu who represented the governor, US ambassador, Mary Berth, the Head of USAID missions, Country Head of JPAICO, State Epidemiologist, Director Public Health and other staff.

United States of America through Donald Trump’s leadership had spoken with Nigerian President Buhari to support the country fight against the spread of COVID 19.
US had since sponsored Africa to the tune of $237million out of which Nigeria has benefit $32.8million. Also millions of daily SMS to Nigerians through NCDC.
Earlier, the Nigerian Nurses in North America also applauded the efforts of Gov Ben Ayade’s government in fighting the pandemic with legacy of being the only state with zero incidence of COVID 19 in the country. The organization donated face mask to the Cross River State gorvenment.
Similarly, the President of National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, Comrade Ojong Ofut Ogar appreciated the State governor and Commissioner for Health for giving out their best to make the state free of the coronavirus pandemic despite all challenges.
NANNM donated hand sanitizer and Veronica buckets, soaps for distribution across the state.
