Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police(IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has redeployed eight commissioners of police in a latest re-posting exercise made public on  Thursday.

This latest development is coming on the heels of  President Muhammadu Buhari ‘s approval of  a reorganization and restructuring  of the Force Criminal Investigations Department by insulating the Force Intelligence Bureau from the former and establishing it as a full -fledged department headed by  a Deputy Inspector General of Police.

The Nigeria Police Public Relations Officer,( Force Headquarters), DCP Frank Mba, who issued  a statement to this effect, also  listed officers deployed as  Undie J. Adie, Osun; Johnson Babatunde Kokumo, Edo; Lawal Jimeta Tanko, Bauchi; Phillip Sule Maku, Ebonyi; and Ahmed Maikudi Shehu, Gombe. According to Mba, the  IGP enjoined the newly deployed officers to ensure they build on the gains of their predecessors , especially in the areas of community-policing, crime prevention, public security, public safety and general crime fighting.

In the meantime, Buhari also gave approval for the establishment of  five new zonal commands  for the Nigeria Police Force in a bid to restructure and decentralize the NPF. This brings the total number of  NPF commands to 17 across the country.
