Popular Nigerian dancer, Kafayat Oluwatoyin Shafau, popularly known by her stage name Kaffy, has been thrown into mourning following the death of her mum.

The celebrity dancer took to picture-sharing app, Kaffydance on Instagram to share the sad news of her mum’s passing on May 25, 2020. According to her post, her mother was 82 years old.

The heartbroken mother of two shared an old video of her mum while dancing and she wrote: “Mama has gone to Rest! #82”

Recall that Dancer Kaffy spent the early part of her childhood in London,  United Kingdom. Her family moved back to Nigeria and her parents separated when she was 12 years old.

Kaffy’s mother became a single parent struggling to care for Kaffy and her siblings. Her personal struggles led the singer to seek empowerment through fitness training and sports at the National Stadium in Lagos.

Kaffy later started making a living as a fitness instructor,  and began dancing when she decided to infuse the element of fun into her training sessions.
