  • Urges Others to emulate him

By John Oghojafor (The New Diplomat’s South-South Bureau Chief)

A pan Isoko group, the Isoko Ethnic Nationality Movement (IENM) has commended what it considers as the statesmanship of Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for his sacrifices, and benevolence deployed to mitigate the hardship occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic which has negatively affected the economic well-being of many.

The Isoko people under the auspices of IENM in an open commendation letter sent to the Lawmaker, who is also the Obarisi of Urhobo land,  and Leader of the APC Caucus in South South,  thanked him for being “an embodiment of true leadership and a pacesetter with his consistent display of love and empathy to his constituents particularly, the downtrodden who are in the most critical state of vulnerability.”

The statement which was jointly signed by Hon. Goddy Ewerode and Otunba Nick Ovuakporie President and Secretary, respectively, on behalf of the Isoko Ethnic Nationality Movement, was a direct reaction to the disbursement of over 85 million naira (Eighty-five Million Naira), being personal support of the Deputy President of  the Senate as palliatives to about 17,000 households across villages, communities and towns in the 8 local government areas of Delta Central Senatorial district of Delta State.

IENM which  expressed delight watching the videos and pictures of the various beneficiaries who were full of ecstasy having received their cash at various occasions said it was highly impressed and wish the lawmaker well in his legislative duties.

According to the group, “the Isoko people therefore urge other Nigerians particularly politicians, to borrow a leaf from the template now institutionalized by Senator Omo-Agege so as to build a society where love and compassion becomes a norm that could help reduce despondency in our society.”
