KAGOTE,  the Apex Socio-cultural Organization of the Ogoni has people  applauded on-going efforts by  Rivers State Government in the fight against the dreaded Coronavirus. According to the  organization, it is no longer news that the Covid-19 pandemic has claimed  many lives across  the world and has continued to threaten our overall existence as a people.

KAGOTE which stressed that the efforts of  Chief Nyesom Wike , governor of Rivers State   has been very phenomenal,and has brought outstanding results for the good of the state urged all Ogonis and all those in Rivers State as well as those conducting business in the State to synergize with the State government,as well as observe all applicable guidelines and rules for the safety of all.

In a statement signed by Rt Hon Emmanuel Deeyah, former member of the House of Representatives and President of KAGOTE, the apex socio-cultural organization of the Ogoni people appealed for support for the Rivers State government.

Rt. Hon Deeyah, a two-time member of the Federal House of  Representatives said: “KAGOTE therefore urges Ogonis and indeed all who live and do business in Rivers State to work in synergy with the government and observe all the rules and guidelines of the lockdown, stay at home, maintain social/physical distancing and regular washing of hands etc. We therefore encourage all community leaders and stakeholders  in Ogoni land to unite against this common enemy.
