Lagos Discharges More Coronavirus Patients, Expresses Joy

Eleven coronavirus patients have been discharged from the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba, Lagos till date.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State broke the news in series of tweets on Thursday evening.

“I am happy to break to you, my good people of Lagos, the news of the release today of 11 more patients from our facility in Yaba,” one of the tweets read.

“They have fully recovered and have tested negative to #COVID19 and have been allowed to return home to their families.”

Lagos has been the epicentre of the Covid-19 pandemic in Nigeria, a development that prompted the Federal government to declare a 14-day lockdown on the state, as well as Ogun state and the Federal Capital Territory(FCT), Abuja.

The state is already reeling from the economic impact of the lockdown. The New Diplomat Economic Intelligence Desk through a data sourced from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) had estimated that Lagos would lose about N17bn during the 14-day lockdown.
