A Federal High Court, Kano has granted an interim injunction restraining Kano Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission from further investigating Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.

In an exparte order granted by Justice Lewis Allago on Friday, the court instructed the state anti-corruption commission and its chairman, Barr. Muhuyi Magaji, Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice of Kano state and Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to maintenance status quo pending the hearing and determination of the substantive motion.

The court also directed suspension of any attempt by the commission or anyone acting on its behalf pending the hearing on 18th March 2020.Sanusi

Recall that, Kano State House of Assembly on Thursday, reportedly set up an eight- man committee to investigate allegations of  violations of culture and traditions as well as religious norms of Kano leveled against, the Emir of Kano , His Highness  Muhammadu Sanusi II.

The committee on public petition was mandated to investigate a petition submitted before the House by an association and an individual over the attitude and character of the emir which they claimed do not conform with the norms, culture and religion of Kano.

The committee, which was headed by the Deputy Speaker, Hamisu Chidare and severn others was given one week to investigate, prepare its report, and submit same with recommendations for  appropriate actions after extensive deliberations by the House.

The groups  which allegedly filed the  petition are Kano State for Promotion of Education and Culture and Mohammed Mukthar Ja’en Yamma, Gwale local government. With respect to the petition, both  groups appealed to the lawmakers to investigate the allegations of purported misconduct and take an appropriate stand on it.
