The stand-off between the Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson and the House of Assembly speaker, Emmanuel Isenah, worsens on Monday as hoodlums stormed the state’s Assembly complex shooting sporadically.
The shootings began when the Speaker was about to enter the chambers after a heated three hours closed-door meeting with members.
Following the chaos, the mace was said to have been moved away by the speaker as other lawmakers and journalists scamper for safety.
Before the commencement of the sitting there was tension around the Assembly complex in the build-up as the Speaker was expected to resign or face impeachment in an event he fails to resign.
Meanwhile, Isenah, who was elected on June as the speaker of the state assembly, is under intense pressure from Governor Dickson to resign his position or face impeachment to pave way for a lawmaker from Southern Ijaw local government to take over in order to help his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), win the area.
