The venue of a national discourse planned by the Coalition for Revolution (CORE) has been sealed off by a combined team of military and Department of State Services officials, Monday.

According to a statement sent to The New Diplomat by the Co-convener of the group with the mantra #RevolutionNow, Mr Olaseni Ajai, security officials besieged the venue in the early hours of Monday, denying the property owner access to his property. The group also claimed that the whereabout of some staff of the centre: the Logos Centre, 46 Ibijoke Street, Oluyole B/Stop, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos, remains unknown. “Innocent bystanders are being harassed and arrested in a Gestapo manner.

“This is a panicky response of a so-called civilian government to Citizens National dialogue on the state of the Nation. No wonder the country is sinking deeper into crises and anarchy.

“We remain focused and determined not to let anyone take away our rights to speech and association.

“We have paid for the venue and are determined to go on with the programme as scheduled for 11am today.

“The whole world can now see the true face of this government and appreciate the reason why we demand that there must be a change in the way things are being done in the country.

“We are however resolute and unshaken in our resolve to change the prevailing oppressive political system in Nigeria,” the group said.

It would be recalled that the group, despite the detention of the #RevolutionNow mobilizer, Omoyole Sowore and the police resistance which had greeted the protest two weeks ago, vowed to continue with the protest across the country on Monday to continue to demand for good governance in Nigeria.
