Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly and House of Assembly candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Okpe constituency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has won the Saturday House of Assembly election.

Announcing the results, Returning Officer, Prof Emmanuel Ighodaro Irhabor, said Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori of the PDP polled 20, 784 to beat his closest rival, Mr Harrison Akpojaro who scored 8,564 to far second, adding that Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori was returned elected.
According to Irhabor, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of the PDP polled 20,415 to Chief Great Ogboru of the APC who scored 9,424 votes to trail behind.

The Speaker, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori who spoke with newsmen after casting his vote in his polling unit in Osubi, hailed the massive turn out of voters for the Governorship and House of Assembly elections in the Area.

Oborevwori who voted at exactly 9:28, said: “I must say that I am impressed with the turn out of voters today (Saturday). The election is very peaceful here in my area and I want to commend the electorate for the massive turn out and their peaceful nature.

“I am very sure of victory for our party, the PDP. We have worked hard in the last four years and I am optimistic that I will be re-elected and the same for our Governor. It will surely end in praise by the Grace of God”.

In a brief chat after the declaration, the elated Speaker thanked the people of Okpe Local Government Area for voting massively for him and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
