Senator Iyiola Omisore, the former deputy governor of Osun and the candidate of the Social Democratic Party, is now the beautiful bride of the state politics, coveted by both the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress.

Although Omisore came third in the 22nd September governorship election, his support is crucial to the two candidates left in the rerun elections scheduled for Thursday in some polling units in four local governments of Osogbo, Orolu, Ife North and Ife south. About 3498 votes are at stake and the candidate that can get a substantial part of the votes has a good chance to win the governorship trophy.

The PDP candidate, Ademola Adeleke, leads the APC candidate Gboyega Oyetola, with just 353 votes in the election declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The PDP candidate polled 254,698 votes, while the APC candidate got 254,345.

Senate President Bukola Saraki, who is leading the PDP campaign in the state was the first to propose to Omisore on Monday, and together they made a Twitter fanfare, announcing “Thank you your excellency the senate president, senator @bukolasaraki for the visit, together we shall make Osun great again”.

On Tuesday, The Ekiti State Governor-Elect, Dr kayode Fayemi, also visited Omisore in his house at Oduduwa Estate, Ibadan Road, Ile-Ife.

Fayemi told newsmen that his visit was personal, not political. Coming just 48 hours before a crucial rerun poll in Osun State, pundits said it was all political to get Omisore’s support for the APC candidate, Gboyega Oyetola.

“Don’t you know that I am Omisore’s in-law and I am free to visit him anytime I wish?

“Therefore my purpose of coming to Omisore is neither on political issue nor rerun election coming up on Thursday.

“But I came to visit him to show my concern and care for his welfare, “ he said.

But whatever sweet words the two parties are whispering into the veteran politician’s ears, he seems not to be decided yet on who to support in the election.

Some reports said that he has in fact given conditions to the two suitors.

To know the suitor he is going with, pundits believe that Nigerians may have to wait the aftermath of the rerun polls and when the votes are counted.
