Ahead of the party primaries election coming up very soon, the O’tega Emerhor’s faction of the APC in Delta State has declared that the party was on course to rescue the state from the ruling party, PDP.

A leader of the party in the state, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor stated this when the leaders, elders and members of the party organized a reception for him in is country home, Evwreni, on his return from Abuja where he went to submit his completed nomination and expression of interest form for the position of Senate for Delta Central Senatorial District.

It would be recalled that barely a week ago, elders and leaders of the party, led by Chief Sylvester Kowho visited Emerhor to urge him to contest for the Senatorial seat of Delta Central in the Red Chambers to replace the incumbent senator.  To demonstrate their resolve, the elders and leaders purchased the nomination and expression of interest form for Emerhor.

Emerhor heeded the call of the elders and leaders, accepting to run for the Senate seat for Delta Central.  He filled the forms and returned same for submission in Abuja and upon his return to Delta, the Elders and Leaders Forum of the party led by Chief Sylvester Kowho arranged a grand reception for the Senatorial aspirant where thousands of APC members from across Delta Central attended to receive him home.

Addressing the mammoth crowd who defied the rains to say welcome to the aspirant, Olorogun Emerhor thanked the people for the show of solidarity for him and the party, particularly the chairman of the Elders and Leaders Forum, Chief Sylvester Kowho who spearheaded the arrangement for the reception.

Emerhor noted that APC was on a mission to rescue Delta State, from the PDP, adding that the bastion of the rescue is Delta Central.  According to him, if Delta Central is to play its role of the arrowhead of the rescue mission, then its representation in the Senate must be one that will enjoy a good relationship with the presidency.

He said: “APC is in a mission to rescue Delta State the bastion of that rescue is Delta Central.  This is where the party is thick. It is thick in Delta South, thick in Delta North but Delta Central we have carried it on our head.  We want to rescue this state. You see all these leaders that are gathered here are committed to rescue Delta.

“So, we must make sure that the representation of Delta Central at the Senate is a representation that will stand by President Buhari; a cool-headed, calculative and diplomatic representation, a representation that can get it done, that can rally and reach out to other people, that can make the work easier for President Buhari.

“Delta Central has, up to now, a failed representation.  The person doesn’t come home to listen to what the Delta Central people want.  Is that not why you leaders come together and say let’s give him red card, let’s change him?  And you decided that I should go and replace him?

“I completed the forms and I can report to you that the forms have been duly submitted in Abuja.  So, as I speak to you I’m ready. We will go into direct primary that the party has endorsed for Delta State.”

Present at the meeting were APC elders, leaders and chieftain including Chief Sylvester Kohwo, Chief
