Less than a week after resigning his position as the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has been appointed spokesman of the coalition seeking to defeat his former party and President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

Abdullahi is now the head of Media and Publicity committee of the newly formed Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP)

The committee has Kazeem Afegbua and Kola Ologbondiyan, spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as members.

Abdullahi’s committee was among the several subcommittees inaugurated Monday in Abuja by the steering committee of CUPP.

Bolaji Abdullahi who officially dumped the APC last Wednesday also announced that he had dropped Buhari’s appointment as Chairman, Nigeria Sugar Development Council.

The former minister wrote: “Following my resignation as National Publicity Secretary of APC and my decision to quit the party, I announced to the board this morning that I have resigned my appointment as Chairman, Nigeria Sugar Development Council.”

CUPP, an alliance involving 39 political parties including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), it would be recalled, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to field a joint Presidential candidate to confront the ruling party in 2019.
