Some top former aides and appointees of erstwhile President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration are on the run, The New Diplomat has learnt.

The New Diplomat gathered that most of them who are scared by the anti-graft crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari, are reportedly seeking asylum in various African countries while others who have residency permits in some western Countries have jetted out to those countries, including Canada and the UK.

As at last count, not less than a dozen of them, involving former top shots of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and  erstwhile top players in the oil  and Gas Companies sector  who played very controversial roles the Jonathan’s  administration are currently hiding in some Western and African countries respectively.

The New Diplomat has learnt that former Executive Chair of the board of Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Dr Ngozi Olejewe, has since relocated to Canada and secured a residency permit in that country.  Diplomatic sources hinted that she is currently in Toronto where she has relocated for fear of possible investigations and trial following allegations of wide-spread scandals which dogged her tenure as Chair of NSTIF.

A source in the know said: ’’ She has since relocated to Canada. She is currently in Canada.  You know she spent so much money to run for the governorship of Delta State. Nobody knew how she raised those funds. She bought campaign vehicles for her coordinators in all the 25 local government areas of Delta State. At that time, NSTIF Staffers were being owed salaries and wages.  But she failed to secure the ticket of the PDP and since then, she left Nigeria for Canada.’’ Investigations however revealed that the presidency may have quietly commenced an audit of the books and accounts of NSITF under Olejeme’s tenure.

Also allegedly in hiding is Mr Haruna Momoh, former Managing Director of Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC). Mr Momoh, who was allegedly neck-deep with former minister Diezani Alison- Madueke in the controversial Oil-swap deals that plagued the Jonathan’s administration is said to be cooling off in London.

Said a close friend of his; ‘’Haruna Momoh is in London. He may have relocated to London to cool off. You know, his name came up severally  as one of the closest persons to the  former minister Diazani Alison-Madueke in the oil swap deals which cost Nigeria several billions of naira.’’

Momoh who was allegedly involved in several controversial deals including passing information to Diazani regarding political critical meetings and strategies of the All Progressive Congress (APC) during the last administration especially during the campaign period was recently sacked by the Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr Ibe Kachikwu.  Before his appointment, Momoh was a Senior Technical Assistant to erstwhile Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke.  All efforts to reach both Momoh and Olejeme were unsuccessful. Several calls to Momoh’s London line was not answered. The same applied to Olejeme who refused to pick up her calls.

But a source in the presidency confirmed to The New Diplomat that the Buhari anti-graft war is fully on course and that ‘’all efforts are on-going to recover all looted funds in Foreign lands if it means bringing back home all those on the run.’’
