The presidency has reacted to the ruling of a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, which remanded Senator representing Delta-North, Peter Nwaoboshi in prison over alleged fraud of N805m.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie expressed delight at the news of Nwaoboshi’s incarceration.

In a post via her Facebook wall, Onochie described the serving lawmaker as a self confessed thief.

She wrote: “BREAKING NEWS:
“COURT SENDS MY SENATOR, PETER NWAOBOSHI TO PRISON
“I am a thief. There’s no way the loot is shared without the thief getting a fair portion. Whatever gets to my hand is mine.

OnceI have looted to my satisfaction, if anything is left, I will give to my extended family, Isieke. If it remains, then it will be given to the people of Igbuzo. If there’s more, then others can get.

-Peter Nwaoboshi.

“I was at an event when he made the above statement in our Anioma language. My stomach churned when he was handed an award after confessing publicly to being a thief. A self-Confessed thief receiving an award!

“But today, the court is holding him accountable for some of his pilfering and looting against Anioma and Delta people.
“Keep him in. He has not represented Anioma people. He has represented himself. May he be brought to justice. We will elect another Senator.”
