Senator Dr_ Okowa Ifeanyi OkowaThe Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has upheld the election of Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as Governor of Delta State in the April 11, 2015 election.

In a ruling Monday in Asaba, the tribunal dismissed the petitions of Chief Great Ogboru and Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, candidates of the Labour Party and All Progressives Congress (APC) respectively.

The three-man Election Petition Tribunal chaired by Justice Nasir Gunmi, while giving its judgement said the APC-Emerhor petition lacked merit, “it was bound to fail, it fails and thereby dismissed.”

The tribunal had earlier struck out the petition of the Labour Party governorship candidate, Chief Great Ogboru who is also challenging Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s victory at April 11 governorship election for lack of merit.
