Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face or 2Baba, has spoken out in a dramatic video posted on X.com late Thursday, accusing members of his own family of spreading damaging rumours, endangering his partner Natasha, and worsening the turmoil surrounding his private life.
The visibly distressed singer said the situation had “gotten dangerously out of hand,” declaring that he would no longer remain silent while his name, mental health, and relationships were being publicly attacked.
“Good evening, this whole thing has gotten dangerously out of hand and I’m not going to be quiet anymore,” he said in the video. “I’m a grown man and I have the right to be with whoever I want to be with.”
2Face claimed that instead of protecting him, certain family members had worsened the crisis and smeared Natasha’s reputation to the point where she is now receiving death threats.
“My family, in trying to say they want to save me, have actually destroyed me,” he lamented. “They have killed somebody’s daughter’s character. Natasha is getting death threats right now.”
He acknowledged that, like any couple, he and Natasha have disagreements, but insisted that his family was blowing issues out of proportion and creating chaos that has spiralled dangerously.
“Tell me who doesn’t quarrel with their spouse once in a while? This has gotten out of hand.”
Despite rumours suggesting he was unstable or struggling mentally, the “African Queen” star stressed that he was perfectly fine and had even performed recently in Abuja.
“I’m perfectly okay,” he said. “Everybody has been seeing me out there—living, breathing, working. How can you say you’re trying to save somebody while messing my whole life up?”
2Face apologised for calling out his brothers publicly but said he had reached breaking point. “This is my own family… but this is not right in any way,” he said. “I’m not going to take this lightly anymore.”
He accused some of his former associates of “fabricating lies” and spreading stories that he is mentally unstable, a narrative he described as “equivalent to killing somebody.”
Recalling past scandals involving his wife, Annie Idibia, the singer suggested that a pattern had emerged in how his family escalates private disputes.
“They did this with Annie—the same thing,” he said. “We all have our differences, but this is now dangerous. They’ve ruined Natasha’s whole life.”
He added that people had even been brought to his house with petitions making “all sorts of nonsense” allegations.
The video comes on the heels of reports that 2Face was briefly detained by UK police after an alleged altercation with Natasha during his October tour. The controversy resurfaced during an Instagram Live session with broadcaster Daddy Freeze, where the couple were heard arguing, fuelling speculation about a marital crisis and the singer’s well-being.
2Face concluded by appealing for calm: “This has got to stop. Please, I beg everybody, have some human conscience. Stop the death threats, stop the harassment. I’m not going to be silent anymore.”
