The freed individuals, who were taken during a brutal mid-week prayer service, regained their freedom on Sunday, November 23, 2025, after several days in captivity.

This was announced in a press statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye.

Ajakaye revealed that the successful release comes following intense, coordinated efforts by Nigeria’s top security agencies.

He also revealed that the development was “wholly due to the hands-on approach of President Bola Tinubu,” who personally directed measures to secure the abductees’ return.

“The governor says this is wholly due to the hands-on approach of President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, who has personally led the efforts to free the abductees. The abductees were freed today, November 23.

“The governor is immensely grateful to President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, for his direct initiative that made this happen,” the statement added.
