The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called an emergency meeting of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC), scheduled for Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

A notice issued on Monday by the factional National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and circulated on X by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, said both meetings will take place at the NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

According to the announcement, the BoT will convene at 11:00 a.m., followed by the NEC meeting at 2:00 p.m. “Attendance is very important as crucial matters will be discussed and addressed,” the notice added.

The emergency meetings come just days after the PDP’s National Convention in Ibadan, where several high-profile members – including Wike, Anyanwu, former National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade, former Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose, and Imo PDP Chairman Austin Nwachukwu – were expelled for alleged anti-party activities.

Their expulsion was moved by former Deputy National Chairman (South), Bode George, and seconded by Bauchi State PDP Chairman, Samaila Buga. The motion was put to a voice vote by Bauchi State Governor and PDP Governors’ Forum Chair, Bala Mohammed, and was overwhelmingly adopted by delegates.

The development has deepened the party’s internal crisis, as Wike’s faction moves to assert its legitimacy amid widening rifts within the PDP.
