A former lawmaker representing Adamawa North Senatorial District of Adamawa State in the Senate, Senator Elisha Abbo is reportedly in the detention facility of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

According to reports, the development came after the former lawmaker reportedly surrendered himself to authorities over allegations of raping a 13-year-old secondary school student.

The alleged rape incident was said to have occurred at Abbo’s residence in Abuja. The alleged rape incident was also contained in a petition filed against the former lawmaker.

According to details from the petition, the assault allegedly took place on June 29, 2025, when the minor was reportedly lured to the ex-senator’s home.

Meanwhile, it was reported that following the petition, Abbo voluntarily turned himself in at the FCID on October 2, 2025, accompanied by his legal team.

As of late Wednesday, he remained in custody, with police sources indicating that interrogations are ongoing and forensic evidence, including medical reports from the victim, is being reviewed.

Recall that in the past, Abbo had been caught on camera abusing a vendor at a sex shop in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.

This particular incident led to his arrest after he was booed by some shop owners in the popular Banex Plaza.

In another incident, the former lawmaker was accused by a married woman who had alleged that he was blackmailing her with a sex tape.
