The All Progressives Congress (APC) has swept the recent Rivers State Local Government elections, clinching 20 out of 23 chairmanship positions.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), long a dominant force in Rivers politics, only secured three chairmanship positions in Saturday’s Rivers State Local Government polls.

The results were announced by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) today, August 31, 2025.

The RSIEC, led by Chairman Dr. Michael Odey, declared the results at its headquarters in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

The commission also announced vice chairmanship winners, with councillorship results still being collated at the time of the announcement.
