The All Progressives Congress (APC) support group known as Grassroots Mass Mobilisation Support Group (GMMSG), has been inaugurated in Edo State with a mandate to secure total victory for the party in upcoming elections and mobilise about 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Speaking during the inauguration of the state leadership on Sunday, National President of GMMSG, Hon. Faisal Mohammed, said the group would work in alignment with Governor Monday Okpebholo’s vision for the state and the president’s agenda for Nigerians.

“We have seen what the governor is doing in this state, which is in line with the president’s desire for the people. We are very happy with him. This group is for everybody,” Mohammed said.

He added that the group would begin intensive mobilisation ahead of next year’s local government elections, stressing that APC must win all available seats.

“The local government election is coming, and we want the APC to win every seat available,” he said.

National Secretary of the group, High Chief Patrick Chime, explained that GMMSG is strictly for card-carrying APC members, urging members to spread the party’s message to all parts of Edo State. He noted that the amended APC constitution now formally recognises support groups as part of the party structure.

Also speaking, Edo State Coordinator of GMMSG, Princess Omoyemwen Adeyinka-Afolabi, said the newly inaugurated executives would immediately deploy coordinators across local government areas to strengthen grassroots participation.

“The vision of GMMSG is clear: to galvanise the strength of the people at the grassroots, to amplify their voices, and to ensure that no one is left behind in the democratic and developmental process,” she stated.

According to her, the group’s mission is to promote political inclusion, unity, and development across communities by supporting credible leadership and advocating social justice and equity.

“We recognise that true power resides in the people, and that the grassroots are the foundation of every thriving democracy. It is from the villages, towns, and local communities that strength flows into the larger system. That is why GMMSG is committed to being a platform where the concerns, aspirations, and talents of our people are not only heard but acted upon,” Adeyinka-Afolabi added.

The event marked the formal take-off of the GMMSG’s operations in Edo State as the group sets its sights on massive mobilisation for future elections.
