• Faces jail term, Pilots Licenses Suspended

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced that popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde, also known as Kwam 1, will be blacklisted for six months for his inappropriate conduct at the domestic terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, made this known during a press briefing on Thursday.
He said: “What I must assure the general public is that everybody involved in this will be brought to book.
“As we speak, the passenger is going to be blacklisted for the next six months from flying in Nigeria.
“Aviation rules are made for everybody, for the protection of everybody. These rules are global. There is nothing about the rules that is to antagonise any passenger.”
The New Diplomat reports that this decision comes after allegations that the music icon violated aviation safety protocols during boarding for a ValueJet flight designated to fly from Abuja to Lagos on August 5, 2025.
According to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), KWAM 1 attempted to board ValueJet Flight VK 201 with a flask containing an unidentified liquid, later confirmed to be alcohol, which violates Nigeria’s National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Annex 17 regulations.
These rules prohibit liquids exceeding 100ml in hand luggage unless medically necessary and properly declared.
Despite repeated warnings from aviation security personnel (AVSEC) and the flight captain, the musician reportedly refused to surrender the flask and spilled its contents on an airline security officer during a confrontation.
The situation escalated when KWAM 1, after being deboarded, allegedly positioned himself near the aircraft, attempting to prevent its departure.
A viral video showed the singer dangerously close to the taxiing plane, prompting safety concerns.
The NCAA responded by suspending the licenses of the two pilots involved, Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Oloba, for initiating takeoff without proper clearance, a move that endangered ground personnel.
