The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike has been captured in a viral video where he is dancingʻ joyfully during the University of Port Harcourt’s (UNIPORT) 50th anniversary celebration, where he was conferred an Honorary Doctor of Science (DSc Honoris Causa) degree.
In the video, Wike is seen surrounded by supporters and dignitaries, visibly moving around and expressing joy through dramatic dance steps shortly after the honour was bestowed on him.
This is as the University of PortHarcourt also conferred on Wike, the status of a distinguished alumnus, for what was described as his exceptional contributions to governance, education, and national development.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, while presenting the conferment letter, highlighted Wike’s leadership skills as a former Governor of Rivers State and what he drscribed as his on-going impact as FCT Minister.
“The university’s Senate approved this honor based on Wike’s outstanding track record in public service and his significant contributions to the growth of UNIPORT and Rivers State,” Georgewill stated.
Wike, an ethnic Ikwerre from Rumuepirikom in Obio-Akpor, graduated from UNIPORT with a degree in Political Science before pursuing law.
In his remarks, Wike said: “I am a proud alumnus of this university, which gave me everything. I am deeply honored by this recognition and will continue to support my alma mater.”
