Dumebi Kachikwu, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has alleged that Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), is already planning to leave the ADC-led coalition barely weeks after joining.

Speaking during an interview with Channels Television, Kachikwu claimed that Obi, who joined the ADC coalition alongside other prominent opposition figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has realized the intention of the coalition.

He claimed that Obi has realized that the coalition is allegedly primarily structured to favor Atiku’s presidential ambitions.

He said: “The whole ADC structure is being packaged for the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Since I started warning people about what is happening, we can see what is happening within the coalition. Someone like Mr Peter Obi now understands that the whole coalition was packaged for Atiku Abubakar.

“From our understanding, what we are seeing now is that he is looking in other directions, and other people who aspire to run now realise that the coalition was indeed no coalition. It was just a vehicle for Atiku Abubakar’s ambition.”

Kachikwu also insisted that the ADC will not be used for Atiku’s presidential ambition, adding that the 2027 election will not give room for what he called ‘class exploitation’ by political leaders.

He vowed to work against politicians by ensuring that Nigerians are informed and educated about their political power as citizens.

This comes after the opposition coalition recently adopted ADC as the political platform to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

Since the development, former President of the Senate, David Mark, and former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, have been appointed as interim National Chairman and interim National Secretary of the party, respectively.
