President Bola Tinubu, will on Thursday, today hold a special Federal Executive Council (FEC) session of tributes in honour of late President Muhammadu Buhari, the immediate past President of Nigeria.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, disclosed this in a statement via his official X handle on Wednesday.

The presidential spokesman stated that the session of tributes will be presided over by President Tinubu.

“A special session of the Federal Executive Council in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari will be held on Thursday, 17 July, from 1 pm. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will lead the session of tributes for the departed leader,” Onanuga said.

The New Diplomat reports, that the regular FEC meeting scheduled for Monday was postponed to allow Tinubu and members his cabinet to attend Buhari’s burial in Daura, Kastina State.

Recall that Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s military head of state from 1983 to 1985, and was democratically elected from 2015 to 2023, died on Sunday and was laid to rest on Tuesday in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.

The funeral was attended by Tinubu, state governors, ministers, and dignitaries from across the country, who paid their last respects to the former leader.
