Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has made a shocking claim, alleging that Israel attempted to assassinate him during a recent 12-day conflict between the two nations.
In an interview with the press, Pezeshkian alleged that Israeli forces targeted a meeting he was attending, using intelligence from spies to launch a bombing strike.
He said: “They did try, yes. They acted accordingly, but they failed.
“It was not the United States that was behind the attempt on my life. It was Israel. I was in a meeting… they tried to bombard the area in which we were holding that meeting.”
The alleged assassination attempt was said to have occurred during a period of heightened hostilities, which began on June 13, 2025, when Israel launched a bombing campaign against Iranian nuclear facilities and military targets.
The conflict reportedly resulted in over 900 deaths in Iran, including top military commanders and nuclear scientists, and 28 fatalities in Israel due to retaliatory drone and missile strikes.
