- Senate Spokesperson: Senate ‘ll Review, decide next Action

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the suspended lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial zone at the Upper Chambers of the National Assembly, Abuja, has broken her silence following her legal victory which overturned her suspension.
Natasha who opened up on Sunday declared that she is set to return to the Nigerian Senate on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, following a court judgment, which upturned her suspension.
The female lawmaker disclosed this to her jubilant supporters in a video trending on social media.
She expressed gratitude to her supporters following a favourable court judgment that reaffirmed her position in the Senate.
She said: “I thank you for your support. I am glad we are victorious today. We shall resume in the Senate on Tuesday by the grace of God.”
Recall that this comes after the Federal High Court, Abuja, presided over by Justice Binta Nyako, declared Natasha’s suspension as “excessive” and a violation of the constitutional rights of Kogi Central constituents to representation.
Justice Nyako emphasized that the 180-day suspension, which amounted to almost an entire 181-day legislative calendar, would effectively deprive the people of Kogi Central of representation.
However, the court also found Senator Natasha guilty of contempt for a social media post, fining her ₦5 million and ordering her to offer a public apology in two national dailies asxwell as on her Facebook page.
Despite the court’s directive asking that she be reinstated immediately, the Senate, through its spokesperson Senator Adeyemi Adaramodu, stated that Natasha’s return hinges on her compliance with the apology order.
“The Senate will review the restitution and decide the next steps,” Adaramodu said, asserting that the Senate has a constitutional authority to discipline its members.
