In a heartbreaking turn of events, Liverpool FC forward Diogo Jota, aged 28, has tragically lost his life in a car accident near Zamora, northwestern Spain.

The Portuguese international, who recently celebrated his wedding, was traveling with his brother, André Silva, who also died in the crash.

According to reports from Spanish authorities, the accident occurred in the late hours of Wednesday when the Lamborghini carrying Jota and his brother veered off the A-52 road, resulting in a fatal fire.

Sources inducate a possible burst tire during an overtaking maneuver may have caused the vehicle to lose control. Emergency services, including a Medical Emergency Unit and local medical staff, confirmed the deaths at the scene.

Jota, born in Porto, Portugal, was a key figure in Liverpool’s recent successes, including their Premier League triumph in the 2024/25 season, as well as victories in the FA Cup and League Cup.

Since joining Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020 for £41 million, Jota has made 182 appearances, scoring 65 goals and becoming a fan favorite for his clutch performances.

Internationally, he earned 49 caps for Portugal, contributing 14 goals and helping secure UEFA Nations League titles in 2019 and 2025.
