The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has reportedly announced his decision to resign from his position.

Ganduje, a former Governor of Kano State, was reported to have announced his decision in a resignation letter addressed to the leadership of the APC.

He was said to have cited health reasons for his decision, stressing that he needs to focus on his health and well-being.

Ganduje’s resignation was confirmed by a former media aide to former President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad on Friday.

Ahmad wrote: “The National Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress(APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has resigned from his position, effective immediately, as confirmed by multiple sources.”

The New Diplomat reports that this comes after Mustapha Hamza Buhari Bakwana, a well-known grassroots mobilizer and former political adviser to Ganduje, dumped the APC to join the opposition New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) in Kano.

Bakwana also announced his decision to vacate his role as Senior Legislative Aide to Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibril.
